However, overexploitation of natural resources by humans, such as the release of harmful gases from air conditioners and refrigerators and many more things, is causing holes in the ozone layer, which will in the future have several negative and serious consequences, like leading to diseases like skin cancer and cataracts and serious damage to ecosystems. UV rays can also enter water, which will cause the death and end of aquatic life.

The earth without the ozone layer will be like a house without a roof, which means literally no protection from anything. World Ozone Day is celebrated on September 16 every year to raise awareness about the depletion of the ozone layer and its harmful consequences.
As we all know, the earth is wrapped in a blanket of air called the atmosphere, and around 19 to 30 kilometers above the earth, there is a layer of gas called the ozone layer, which is also termed the sunscreen of the planet Earth. The ozone layer is very important because it absorbs and protects the planet from harmful ultraviolet radiation, which is the only thing that makes the planet safe for life.
But today we are here to address and acknowledge the concern that the ozone layer is depleting. The overexploitation of natural resources by humans, like the release of chlorofluorocarbon (CFc) in the atmosphere by the use of air conditioners, refrigerators, and many other things that release harmful gases, is causing several holes in the ozone layer, and if there is no ozone layer in the environment, then humans might have to face several diseases like skin cancer, cataracts, and serious damage to the whole ecosystem. UV rays can also go inside the water and cause death and the end of aquatic life. If the depletion of the ozone layer does not stop, then it will result in fewer plants on earth, less food, and untreatable diseases, which will lead to a disaster for the human race.
The ozone layer can only be protected if we avoid the use of gases that are dangerous to the ozone layer and adopt some environmentally friendly alternatives. We can also reduce the depletion of the ozone layer by reducing energy consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases by taking small and simple steps like using energy-efficient appliances and vehicles.
We should always adhere to the norms given by the government and international agreements, especially the big companies, and should also educate ourselves and others about the concerns arising out of the depletion of the ozone layer, as awareness will be the first step to having a safe environment.
The earth is the house of every living being, and taking steps from the individual level and making them into a big campaign will be fruitful for our ecosystem. We can take simple steps by reducing waste, adopting sustainable development, and using environmentally friendly things. Let this day be termed action day, an action day for the protection of the shield that protects us from the harmful UV rays coming out of the sun. We all can take single steps for a better future.
