Ladies and gentlemen, our esteemed guest, and all my dear friends present here A warm welcome to all of you. Today we are all here to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shastri ji, and I am standing before you all to give a speech on a prominent and world-famous leader, Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Lal Bahadur Shasti was a notable politician and Prime Minister of India who was born on October 2, 1904, in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. He was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s speech at Banaras Hindu University to believe in a self-sufficient nation. After India’s independence in 1947, he served as the Minister of Railways and Cabinet in 1952, and after the death of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, he became Prime Minister in 1964, but he only lasted for 18 months. Shastri Ji was against the caste system that was prominent at the time, so he also dropped his title, and later, after his graduation, he got a new title as Shastri Ji.

His slogan was “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan,” which encouraged people to appreciate the importance of a self-sufficient country and raised the soldiers’ passion to fight and protect the country. In 1921, he helped a lot in the freedom struggle movement, as several times he also went to jail. He also backed Gandhiji during his salt satyagrah movement. He also launched the Green Revolution to alleviate food shortages.

5 Minute Speech on Lal Bahadur Shastri in English (Speech on Lal Bahadur Shastri)

Greetings to everyone present here today. I am standing before you all to give a speech on a prominent leader and our beloved prime minister, whose death is still a mystery.

We always got to know that October 2 is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, but we forgot that on October 2 another statesman was born, whose name is Lal Bahadur Shasti. Born on October 2 in 1904 in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, his father, Shirda Prasad, was a school teacher, and the name of his mother was Ramdulari Devi.

He believed in a self-sufficient nation, and he was also greatly influenced by the speech of Mahatma Gandhi at Banaras Hindu University and joined the Indian freedom struggle. After the independence of India in 1947, he was appointed as the minister of railways and cabinet in 1952, and after the death of our PM Rajiv Gandhi, he was appointed as a prime minister on June 9, 1964, but he served for only 18 months. Still, he has contributed a lot to the nation, and he was also against the caste system, so he dropped his title, and he also got the title Shastri ji after the completion of his graduation at Kashi Vidyapeeth in Varanasi.

Shahtri Ji gave the slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” to encourage people to recognize the necessity of a self-reliant country, as the farmers will increase the production of grains to tackle the scarcity of food in the country and to increase enthusiasm in the soldiers to fight and defend the country.

Lal Bhadur Shastri has contributed a lot to this nation during the non-cooperation movement in 1921. He was arrested and also supported Gandhi ji during his salt satyagrah from Sabarmati to Dandi by going door to door and requesting people not to pay the taxes to the British government. Earlier, he became the unit secretary of the Congress Party and then the president of the Allahabad Congress Committee.

After becoming the prime minister, his contributions were countless, ranging from shortages of food to unemployment and many more. For the food shortage, he initiated a long-term strategy known as the Green Revolution, which will increase the production of crops. He has also tackled the aggregation of Pakistan in 1965 very smoothly; he showed his courage by making it clear that India is a powerful nation and will not sit down and watch like a looser.

In 1966, he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, and on January 11, 1966, he passed away in Tashkent, where he had gone to sign an agreement with Pakistan to end the ongoing war and to respect the pre-determined borders. His death is called a mystery as his post-mortem was not conducted after his death. Some people state that he died due to a heart attack, as he was also a heart patient and had suffered a heart attack earlier in 1959, but it is also said that his body turned blue after his death, which raises questions and concerns about whether he was poisoned or not.

Last but not least, I would like to say that on his birth anniversary, we should remember his contributions and recognize his bravery. He was a man of his word and also served the nation as the Prime Minister of the country and did his best for the nation.
